What We're All About

The North American Junior - Young Riders Endurance Ride is happening this year for the first time ever. The Endurance Ride is a demonstration event held in conjunction with the North American Junior/Young Riders Championship. A mulit-disciplined event that will have young equestrians competing in Show Jumping, Eventing, Dressage and Reining.

Youth from all over North America will be coming to Parker, Colorado to compete in a 75 mile endurance ride. In addition, we have several commitments from riders overseas who are keenly interested in riding in this event as well.

As an FEI CEI*** event this ride will expose endurance youth to International competition. In addition, this ride is also sanctioned by the American Endurance Ride Conference. We are also currently seeking sanctioning from the Arabian Horse Association as well.

Although a three-star and above FEI event usually requires an FEI Passport for the horse, we have received a waiver from FEI for any USA based horses so that they will not be required to have one.

The Trail

Though we are currently working on the specifics of the trails, they are certain to offer breathtaking views of Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, open meadows dotted with wildflowers, and trails winding in and out of the Parker, Colorado area. The trail will consist of various loops coming and going from the Colorado Horse Park with veterinarian exams every 12 to 20 miles.

Plenty of Opportunity

This ride will offer plenty of opportunities for our youth to not only watch the other disciplines compete, but other opportunities to socialize with these youth. Various parties and dinners are planned throughout the week.

APEX (A Partnership for Endurance Xcellence) will be offering a clinic for those participating in the event, as well as other Young Riders who are coming to observe the event. On Wednesday the clinic will include John Crandall III discussing his various accomplishments and his training regime. Wednesday will also include a round table discussion with the ride vets and a presentation from Vonita Bowers, USEF Director of Endurance. Friday the APEX clinci will include a wrap-up session brought to us by Dinah Rojek. Dinah will cover topics including planning for the future and suggestions for improving your overall ride strategy.

Requirements for Riders

Our ultimate goal is to one day in the very near future to offer an official Junior/Young Riders National Championship. This event will obviously have high requirements for mileage for both horse and rider. The event this year is not a Championship event, however, we are going to require a minimal number of miles for both horse and rider so that we can be assured that we have experienced riders and horses competing at this event. Please click on the links below to see what the requirements are for both rider and horse.
